Welcome to The Burgate School and Sixth Form website. Our aim is to present you with a clear sense of our ethos and aspirations, whilst providing a wealth of information about our school.

The Burgate School and Sixth Form is a very successful 11 – 18 mixed comprehensive school situated on the outskirts of Fordingbridge, a small market town on the edge of the New Forest. Salisbury, Bournemouth and Southampton are all within easy driving distance, as are the English Channel ports of Poole and Portsmouth. The major cities of Bath, Bristol and London are all easily accessible by road and rail, and the New Forest National Park, Isle of Purbeck, Jurassic Coast and Salisbury Plain further enrich and enhance the natural beauty of the local environment. This is a highly desirable area in which to live and work.

The school has a very attractive site with extensive, well-kept grounds. All accommodation is in permanent buildings and each area is equipped to a high standard. The school has an excellent reputation in the local community. Over forty per cent of our pupils and students live in Wiltshire or Dorset and attend the school by parental choice. There are currently seven hundred and fifty pupils on roll in Years 7 to 11 and over two hundred and seventy students in the Sixth Form.

Our motto is: ‘Learning for Life’.

Our purpose is: To prepare pupils for life.

Our aims are:

Learning - To promote the highest standards of learning.

Individuals - To encourage respect for every individual.

Friendship - To foster caring, happy relationships.

Environment - To maintain a safe, pleasant environment.
