You are here: News / Update - Closure of A338
The school has this afternoon received the following information regarding the proposed major roadworks at Downton on the A338.
Wiltshire Council passenger transport has today advised that the proposal to close the A338 at Downton has now been cancelled. Any works will now be carried out under single file traffic lights, the first of which was originally planned at the north end of Downton from Monday 11 January 2010. It is understood that these works may still proceed, weather permitting, but would not envisage that they would have a significant impact on fare paying students travelling from Salisbury.
As the works are to the north of the junction with The Borough in Downton, these works should not impact at all on entitled pupils and students travelling via Woodfalls and Downton.
We have received no further information on the scale, timing or impact or proposed single-file working in the south Downton location, but as soon as we receive further information it will be posted on the website.
We anticipate all bus routes operating with a normal timetable, but there may be some delays as a result of the single file traffic lights. Please would all families, especially those of students and pupils taking examinations please take this into consideration. Thank you.
