Burgate Staff Don't Stand too close!
Lockdown may be in full force, but that didn’t stop Mr Cakebread recruiting a merry band of musicians to record a "socially distant" version of The Police’s 1980 hit “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”.
With new lyrics reflecting life in a pandemic, Mr Cakebread's initial recording featured just vocals and a guitar. This was then expanded by Head of Music, Ms Goodyear, incorporating her own backing vocals, a drum track from peripatetic tutor Mr Whitton, and other instrumentation. The finishing touch was a glorious trombone solo from Head of Chemistry, Mr Whitehead.
The track is accompanied by a video spliced together by Head of Media, Dr Hill, using footage and stills of staff on lockdown. Make sure you watch right to the end for some great out-takes! Mrs Hill and Mrs Becher both outdid themselves!
We hope you enjoy seeing some familiar faces in some unfamiliar locations. Remember to keep in touch with your teachers and each other. And above all: stay safe.
