Coronavirus update

Please be reassured we are monitoring the current situation with the Coronavirus very closely and will continue to follow the advice and guidance from the DfE and Public Health England (PHE) with regards to our action in school.

From today’s briefing (12 March) the Government are recommending that any student should self isolate for 7 days if they have symptoms of a fever and a persistent cough.  The school will set “keep up” work for any student self isolating on INSIGHT.

Also all overseas trips will be cancelled with immediate effect and we will be reviewing our UK based trips on a day to day basis, in line with the guidance.

Latest information and advice can also be found at:

This information is being shared publicly around the school and sixth form.

Advice for parents

You should not be unduly worried about the possibility of your child catching the Coronavirus.

There is no reason why your child should not continue to attend school as normal.

However, if you have recently returned from one of the infected areas as identified by the government or you have been in contact with anyone that has, then please contact 111 and seek medical advice.  You are advised to self-isolate at this point until you have been tested and/or cleared.

It is important that you contact the school at this point.

What positive action you can take

A UK wide campaign has been launched to provide clear advice on how to slow the spread of Coronavirus.

Please help to support the campaign which promotes basic hygiene practices, such as regularly washing hands and always sneezing into a tissue, to stem the spread of viruses.

We remind our students every day about the importance of washing hands effectively with soap and warm water and using tissues to catch sneezes and coughs.  You can help by ensuring your child is always carrying a handkerchief or packet of tissues with them at all times.

It is important to add that in the event of a Government decision to enforce a whole school closure we will inform you immediately and continue to provide an education for all students via INSIGHT.  It is imperative to ensure that both you and your child can successfully access INSIGHT.  If you have any difficulties with this please email

Thank you in anticipation for your continued support
