Inter School Fixtures

For a full list of school fixtures please download:
New Forest School Games: KS3 & KS4 Competition Booklet 2018-19

While we try to adhere to these dates there may be cause for them to be rearranged at short notice. This is unavoidable but your son/daughter will be informed via either the PE notice board or via a message from the teacher in charge. Other dates will be in addition to those listed, especially county events whereby qualification is necessary. Inter school fixtures whereby a single team is involved do not require a letter of parental consent and therefore no letter will go home to parents about any individual sports fixture. Pupils will be notified via the PE notice board where a team list will be put up giving the date, venue and time of completion of fixture. It is the responsibility of the pupil to inform the parent of the details of the fixture and to ensure they can make their way home afterwards. Any pupil needing to make a phone call home relating to any sporting activity may do so, free of charge, from the PE office, whether this is due to a cancelled fixture or after school club, or a late addition to the team etc.

Science

Drop in Science Support for Years 7 to 11, every Lunchtime, room 15.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Club, Tuesday 15:15 – 16:15

This is a club for students who have a key interest in the following subject areas: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). We are start each year with the challenge of programming a LEGO robot with the aim of entering the First Lego League national competition at Intech. Not only is this an exciting opportunity for pupils to broaden their scientific knowledge, but it allows them access to outside specialists who have volunteered to help with our STEM club through the STEM Ambassadors scheme. STEM club will help build a team-work ethic and inspire pupils to consider a potential career in this industry!

Drama

We hold rehearsals in advance our school productions. Our last production was 'A Christmas Carol'.

Burgate Amnesty International Youth Group

For people who want to make a difference in the world.

The Burgate Youth Group is aimed at all Year 7-13 who have an interest in Human Rights. Amnesty International campaigns to protect peoples' Human Rights across the world and we take part in campaigns such as writing letters to those imprisoned unfairly because of their political views or by writing to the government or completing petitions on important issues. Our group won the prestigious Most Committed Group category in the national Human Rights Awards and we were invited to London to receive our award. This term we will be involved in the Write for Rights Day and other campaigns. The Youth Group meets once a fortnight on Monday lunchtime week 1 in C14 (in sixth form Avon building), all are welcome to attend. Even if you do not come to the meetings you are welcome to take part in the various events we have planned for this year, look out for our Amnesty International noticeboard on the mainschool top corridor and Sixth Form opposite C14. Even small actions can make a big difference and together we are powerful.
